Volunteers have an enduring positive impact on the lives of our residents and patients.
As a volunteer, you also enjoy the rewards that come to those who give of themselves.

St. Barnabas offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. Our staff is happy to work
with you or your group to develop a program around a specific interest or talent you may have.

One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

Provide day-of event support for a variety of St. Barnabas Charities events:

  • Founder’s Day Celebration – April 23 (cancelled)– Pittsburgh Marriott North, Cranberry Twp.
    Assistance is needed for event set-up, selling raffle tickets and overall event support. 
  • Charitable Golf Open – Friday, June 11, 2021 – Conley Resort & Golf Club
    Assistance is needed for the monitoring of holes, selling birdies and recording challenges met by golfers. 
  • Free Care 5K Run/Walk – August 2021 – St. Barnabas Gibsonia Campus
    Assistance is needed for stuffing swag bags prior to the event, day-of registration other types of post-race party event support.
  • Ladies’ Day Out – fashion, food, shopping & fun – September 2021 – Trees Manor at St. Barnabas
    Assistance is needed for event set-up, selling raffle tickets and overall event support.
  • Sporting Clays Shoot – October 27, 2021 – Seven Springs

These events are a great way for individuals, families, student groups or community organizations to become involved. We welcome your participation as we plan events, have fun, and raise money for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund.

Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities

Resident Activity Support
Volunteers are welcomed at all of our community and long-term care facilities in Gibsonia, Valencia and Beaver Meadows to help engage and enrich the lives of residents in a variety of ways. Families are encouraged to get involved!

  • Be a companion for residents and assist with social activities such as birthday parties, bingo, game nights or craft classes.
  • Visit residents who are bedridden and unable to attend activities.
  • Musicians and musical groups are always welcome to perform and engage our residents.
  • Pet therapy visits.
  • Assist with transporting residents to religious services or social functions (must be able to push a wheelchair, while maintaining a friendly, compassionate tone with residents).
  • New talents and ideas for new programs are always welcome!

Weekday & weekend, times vary. No experience necessary.

Remember those living in skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the year. PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS makes it easy to celebrate holidays, birthdays or…just to show you care! Adopt a patient, visit and deliver a gift. Learn more here.

PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS also offers a Scout Patch Program. Your group can earn a special patch while learning the value of community service. Enrich the life of a nursing home resident with the gift of your time and hospitality. Opportunities for visits are available throughout Allegheny and adjoining counties.

Hospice Volunteers
Make a difference in the lives of terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers are needed for services such as friendly visits, light housekeeping, running errands or providing clerical office support. Learn more here.

Furniture at the Firehouse, The General Store & Furniture at the Plaza Volunteers
Ongoing volunteer support is needed at our retail locations in Valencia and Beaver. Proceeds from sales benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. Volunteers assist with retail displays, stocking shelves and various customer service tasks. Weekdays, times vary. No experience necessary.
